Opposed the Nazis having a say in how they ran their church. Some pastors spoke out against the Nazis and around 800 were arrested and sent to concentration camps. Martin Niemoller was initially welcoming of Nazism to his church but changed his mind when he saw the creation of the Reich church as it being more about Nazism than christianity. This led to him creating the confessional church with Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was banned from preaching by the Gestapo
