apr 7, 1906 - Algeçiras conference

Description:

In 1905, France began to reform the Moroccan administration against Germany’s desires, causing Germany to request a conference on Morocco’s future and the resignation of French Foreign Minister Declassé.
→ Germany lost all substantial support. Of the 11 states present, only Austria and Morocco backed Germany whilst the others supported French claims to Morocco.
→ France and Spain were granted supervision of the Moroccan police and France was given control of the state bank. Germany won the concession that all powers should enjoy equal economic rights in Morocco.
