Muybridge famous for capturing 24 images of horses, capturing movement. Happens in 1870s. Came to US from UK in 1860s.Leeland Stanford-- Opened a huge racing stable. For centuries it was believed that horses hopped. Leeland wanted to prove this wrong. Placed a bet. Had Muybridge settle this score.
Done on a race track. Line of cameras. When horse crosses steps on a wire a picture is taken.
His next project is to create more images of horses, horses with riders, donkeys, bulls, camels, all kinds of animals, and then humans, all in motion. New sponser is University of Philli.
