jan 6, 1148 - Battle of Mount Cadmus
Description:
With Conrad III and the remnants of the German Crusade having returned to Constantinople, Louis VII advanced into the Cadmus mountains. The Seljuks ambushed and destroyed most of the Crusader force, with few making it out of the battle. Louis handed over the remains of his army to the Templars who led the French through the mountains, but only a fraction of the original force reached the coastline of Anatolia. Louis, alongside his best forces, decided to board ships and sail to Antioch. The rest of the army was abandoned and almost entirely destroyed during their long march to the city.
