dec 15, 1791 - The Bill of Rights
Description:
(Term 4) On June 8, 1789, James Madison introduced the Bill of Rights as a series of rights that would serve as the first 10 amendments in the U.S. constitution (They were completely ratified on December 15, 1791).
1. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints could not have been founded in a nation without some sort of religious freedom. The Bill of Rights helped protect early saints to some degree. However, it was nonetheless very difficult for them and the saints' rights were violated many times
2. The Bill of Rights provides us with the right of free speech without persecution, allowing us to share the Gospel and do God's work
3. Because of the Bill of Rights, we are able to critique our government and make changes if they abuse their power
