jan 1, 1955 - Multi-track Recording

Description:

Multi-track recording is a way of recording separate sounds at different times, these can then come together as one whole track. This came around roughly mid 1950’s when they were still using magnetic tapes to record on. Multi-track recording was a massive improvement in the business as it allows studio engineers to not only record instruments and vocals separately but it allows the engineer to adjust the levels and tone of each track to correct any mistakes or to get a better ‘take.’ Even though Les Paul was already using the technique of recording, it was mainly only available to those who could afford to record with this method.
