Description:

The Crusaders lay siege to Nicaea and the Seljuk garrison sent word to Kilij Arslan for assistance. Distracted by a campaign against the Danishmend in central Anatolia, Kilij Arslan hurried parts of his force back to Nicaea. He attempted to relive the city by breaking the Crusader siege, but underestimated the size of the Christian force. After his defeat, the garrison surrendered to the Byzantines to prevent the Crusaders entering the city.
