Description:
Russia signed the secret Reinsurance Treaty with Germany. Its main terms were:
→ Both powers would remain neutral in a war fought against a third power unless Germany attacked France, or Russia attacked Austria.
→ Germany recognised Russia’s historically acquired rights in the Balkans and particularly in Bulgaria.
→ Turkey would not open the Straits to the navy of a power hostile to Russia (Britain), or Germany and Russia would view it as a hostile act against themselves.
