Description:
This was apolitical organization founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale to raise awareness and raise a sign to stand up for the assassination of Malcolm and after a police killed an unarmed black teen named Matthew Johnson. All dressed in black with leather jackets their main purpose was to patrol and challenge police brutality against the African American community. They also had community service that provided food, clothing, and transportation. Its peak reached in 1968 where they had about 2,000 members. Later on it was shutdown by the FBI thanks to some of their activities.
