may 17, 1774 - Intolerable Acts

Description:

Acts passed by the British Parliament in retaliation for the Boston Tea Party, meant to punish the colonies. These acts closed Boston ports and established military rule of the city. The colonists were infuriated at these acts, because they took away a lot of the colonists' ability to govern themselves.
