Althea Garrison was the first known transgender politician in America. She started running In Massachusetts as a democrat in 1982. She ran for the Senate, Massachusetts House of Representatives and for Mayor as a Republican and Democrat multiple times. she was successful around 8 times. She ran from 1982 to 2020. She was against abortion, and very conservative which surprised me, knowing she is transgender.
