Description:

Democritus was a Greek philosopher that made the first theory about Atoms or as it was called at the time "Atomos ". Many other during that time believed that Atoms were made up of the 4 elements and that they could be broken down into smaller and smaller pieces until at one point they couldn't. He made an assumption that everything in the world is made up of tiny, unbreakable element particles. He didn't have any real evidence to support this theory but this during the time was the only thing that made a bit of sense. This was like the building block and any knowledge that we had about the Atom was formed by this theory.
