Description:
The magnetophon was the device that pioneered reel-to-reel tape recordings. Developed in 1930, but first demonstrated in 1935. It used magnetic tapes to record, but early development held poor results. In 1939, they changed the way the tapes were made, and this improved the quality greatly. This new ‘recipe’ was used all the way until the 1970s when chromium dioxide tapes were used.Added to timeline:
