aug 10, 631 - Battle of Pavia

Description:

As pope was killed, the Frank king Dagobert I invade northern italy for revenge to the Lombards, and smashed through what little resistance remained in the north which already weakened by the Romans, then besiege Pavia in July. The Lombard king forced his demoralized and reduced army confront the Franks, and decisively beaten by the them, and then as they retreated the Romans fell upon them. Most of the soldiers surrendered, captured, and then executed or tonsured.
