The Silk Road was an infamous trade route that spread from East Asia to Europe, connecting many civilizations for approximately 1,400 years. There were many routes and stops used for the Silk Road including The Red Sea and the Horn of Africa (Somalia). Goods such as gold, silver, spices, ivory, animals, slaves, weapons, glass, tea, silk, perfume, medicine, rice, porcelain, and gunpowder were all traded through the Silk Road. This trade route was established during the Han Dynasty and finally came to an end during the Ottoman Empire.
