jul 1, 1972 - Pentagon Papers Leaked
Description:
The New York Times published, "The History of U.S. Decision-Making Process on Vietnam," also known as the Pentagon Papers. The articles leaked the actual situation in Vietnam, causes of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, and previous actions by former administrations.
With increasing dissent and opposition to the Vietnam War, the publication of the Pentagon Papers further stirred the American Public. It made the Nixon administration look embarrassing, and Nixon, who was seeking for re-election in 1972, became further paranoid, fearing such situation would happen again, which would contribute to the Watergate Scandal.
