jan 1, 1782 BC - Second Intermediate Period (Egypt)
Description:
The second intermediate phase is one in which ancient Egypt is once again in turmoil. It acts as a transitional time between the end of the middle kingdom and start of the new kingdom. It all began when the 13th Dynasty pharaohs lost power, allowing the Hyksos to seize control. The period would come to an end when Ahmose, a Theban monarch, forced the Hyksos out of Avaris and into Palestine.
Second intermediate period = 1782 - 1570 BCE
