Description:
The Old Kingdom started during the third dynasty when Djoser became king of the nation. This was known as the Age of Pyramids as The Step Pyramid in Saqqara and the Pyramids of Giza were built during this time. The Step Pyramid was the world's first monument made of stone. This era was very peaceful and they had a successful military. The government and economy were stable. But in the two following dynasties, the economy and wealth of the King decreased due to the constant building of pyramids. This caused the kingdom to weaken, leading to chaos after the death of King Pepy II when the Old Kingdom ended.
