nov 7, 1917 - The October Revolution of 1917

Description:

This revolution happened when the Bolshevik party seized power over the provisional government and took control of Russia. The Bolshevik party had immense support because of the people appreciated their policies that would help lead the people. On November 6th and November 7th, the Bolshevik party led a coup that shed no blood. They took over government buildings and important centers of power. The provisional government was weak and powerless to stop them. This left the Bolsheviks in virtual control of the government of Russia. This took power from Kerensky and the Mensheviks and gave the power to Lenin and the Bolsheviks. November 7 is when this revolution ended and is the most important date of this revolution, for this is when one winner had been secured. One group, the Bolsheviks had overtaken the provisional government and taken control of Russia. The Petrograd Soviet, or the opposition to the provisional government, had helped and was instrumental in this revolution. It was the Bolshevik group that would take over Russia. This was led by Vladimir Lenin who saw that Russia was weak. He took power for himself and for his party seeing that Russia's government was weak.
