oct 6, 1973 - Yom Kippur War
Description:
The Yom Kippur was fought by Egypt and Syria against Israel, with support from most other Arab states. The short term outcomes of the war are not so important on European history as the long term consequences of its associated oil embargo against the US and UK. This embargo caused shortages in oil and gas throughout the Western world, and lead in part to greatly decreased economic growth and increasing inflation, a trend that would continue throughout the 70s.
