feb 7, 1855 - The Chinese Exclusion Act

Description:

As the number of Chinese immigrants surged in response to the enormous amount of labor with railroads and then the scurry for the Gold Rush, Americans became fearful that they would take over the economy. Thus, the Chinese Exclusion Act banned the entry of any more Chinese immigrants to "preserve American jobs."
