feb 26, 1886 - Berlin Conference
Description:
All the big bad colonial boys get together to divvy up Africa amongst themselves, establishing basic conditions of free trade on the Congo and Niger Rivers, oblige them to protect native, and require international recognition to all claims. This sets off a rapid conquest of the African continent by the European powers, who mostly do so peacefully (for everyone but the natives), although with notable near war events at several turns amongst the great powers. This conquest is vastly aided by malarial medication and machine guns.
