nov 10, 1799 - Napolean becomes first consul
During November of 1799, Napoleon as first Consul, established himself as the head of a more centralized republican government in France. Napoleon was known for conquering most of Europe by launching a series of wars. Many people remember him as an inspirational leader because his wartime victories helped strengthen French national pride and also modernized the government structure. But others remember him as a dictator who cost people their lives.
