Description:

In 1795, the French Revolutionary Government set up the Directory. The Directory was a five member committee that ruled France for 4 years during the final stage of the French Revolution. The government was based off a new constitution called the "Constitution of Year III." The five members used military forces to put down uprisings, and despite the struggles the Directory helped France to somewhat recover from the Terror. As the Directory became more corrupt the military leaders of France grew in power, One specific general, Napolean overthrew the directory.
