sep 6, 668 - 1st Battle of Nahavand

Description:

Hasan ibn Ali led a successful attack on the Persians to stop their raids, which saw the Ardashir III killed and the Persian army put to flight, about 45,000 Persians are killed, captured, or fled. But an uprising amongst the army in Syria had distracted the Arabs, had it not been for that, its possible Hasan would have been able to march to Spahan and capture the Persian Empire. Historians usually saw the time from battle of Burs to 1st Battle of Nahavand as the key era of final transition from Late Antique to Early Medieval in Persia.
