jan 5, 1957 - Eisenhower Doctrine Created
Description:
The Eisenhower Doctrine stated that any country could request military or economic aid from the US if it was being threatened by armed aggression from another state, especially the USSR. This was mainly targeted at the Middle East because after the Suez Crisis Britain and France had lost a lot of prestige and left a power vacuum filled by an anti-Western Egyptian president.
