Description:

The Berlin Blockade was when the USSR blocked the Western Allies’ railways, roads, and canal access to the sections of Berlin under Western control. The response of the Western powers was an airlift, in which they continued to aid West Berlin by airlifting supplies for eleven months. The significance of this event is that the USSR was attempting to force the Western Allied Powers to abandon their jurisdiction of West Berlin.
