jan 1, 1961 - Arrival of First U.S. Military "Advisors"
Description:
The United States supported South Vietnam by sending in military advisors. These advisors would help train South Vietnamese troops. "By the end of 1963, 16,000 U.S. military personnel were in South Vietnam." (American History Textook - See Bibliography) This played a role in the Vietnam War because in essence, they would actually lead some of the attacks and be more involved then what the job description for advisers details.
