Description:

California would be admitted as a free state, Texas would give up some land and the U.S government would help pay off the war debts, popular sovereignty would decide position on slavery in new states and territories. The slave trade would be banned in Washington D.C. Congress would pass stricter laws for the capture of runaway slaves. This led to the civil war because both had to give up something which they obviously did not like.
