dec 16, 1944 - 17. Battle of the Bulge

Description:

Germany's last stand against US Allies in Germany. Germans sent forth 8 German tank divisions as a final offensive push against the allies creating a bulge in the front lines. This battle continued until January 25th when Patton pushed Germany's forces back and prevented any advance. Germany gained almost nothing from this last attempt except lost troops, resources, and vehicles. Allies won and pushed further into Germany.
Significance - Germany had basically spent all of their resources and military provisions on this last stand battle which severely weakened them. This began the end of WWII.
