Description:

Japan battled US Allies in the Leyte Gulf of the Philippines. Japan gives an all out attack against the Allies which include kamikaze (suicide plane) attack on US ships, and ended up causing more damage to themselves than the Allies. General Halsey leads the Allies to another victory and Japanese forces loses over 500 planes and 13 cruisers.
Significance - The Allies continued to gain momentum in stopping the Axis resistance and greatly weakened their forces.
