Description:
Germans entered Stalingrad with high hopes. They had taken over 9/10 of city. Then winter came and Soviets cut off German supply. Germans surrendered and Soviets start moving west towards Germany. Around 1.1 million Soviets died, and 230,000 Germans die. The Soviets emerge damaged yet victorious.
Significance - This stopped the German advance into the USSR and turned the tides of the war for them.
