Napoleon has never lost a battle until he invaded Russia. He invaded Russia because they were trading with England when all other nations were stopped from trading. Although when they invaded Russia they were not expecting it to be so cold, baron of food, and disease ridden. To add insult to injury Russia made the scorched earth policy which salted and burned the ground so the french could not grow food on the land.
