Description:

Cause (International): Series of negotiations between US and Japan during an "economic war" prior to Pearl Harbor.

Effect (International): diplomatic culmination of a series of events leading to the attack on Pearl Harbor, mentioning previous American demands for Japan to withdraw from China and from French Indochina, may have been the final straw that instigated Pearl Harbor attack.

Cause (Domestic): Japan was faced with oil and other natural resource shortages, and they wanted to seize resources from Southeast Asia but US did not want that happening.

Effect (Domestic): Japan attacked Pearl Harbor to take advantage and seize resources from Southeast Asia, also hoping that US would be displaced from position as a major world power.
