mar 15, 1917 - Czar Nicholas II

Description:

This was the leader of Russia during the Russian revolution. He was also known as the last Emperor of Russia. His poor leadership and inability to adapt to the people’s needs made it obvious that a revolution would come under him. His poor choices in the war with Japan and World War I left the economy strangled and Russia is poverty. He refused to change the government to adapt to the people’s needs at all and kept making poor choices that only hurt the Russian civilians. After continually shutting down the Duma, or parliament, the people were very angry. Nicholas II planted the seeds of revolution in the people and made the people realize that change would have to come. Eventually, he gave up his throne on March 15, 1917 and was executed on July 17, 1918. The date that Nicholas II gave up his throne is very important, for this marks the end of the last emperor of Russia. This meant that there would be no more emperors of Russia and was a very important day for the revolution. It ended the rein of Nicholas II and would create the path towards change that the people so desperately wanted. Even if change didn't come, this was a huge step in the revolution and set the people on the path to a new government and a new nation.
