Description:
Dred Scott was a slave from Missouri who sued for his freedom. He claimed that he was a free man since his owner took him to Wisconsin. The Missouri Compromise banned slavery in Wisconsin. The case made it to Supreme Court . The Supreme Court ruled that Dred Scott could not sue because he is not a citizen. The court also ruled that slaves could npt become citzens not matter if they are freed or not. They said the Missouri Compromise is unconstiotutional since slaves are property and the 5th admendment protects that.
