jan 1, 1903 - Mensheviks
Description:
The Mensheviks formed the minority of the Socialist Democrat Party when they split in 1903.They were part of a political party in Russia. The group evolved into a separate organization. It originated when a dispute over party membership requirements arose at the 1903 congress of the Social-Democratic Party. One group, led by L. Martov, opposed Lenin’s plan for a party restricted to professional revolutionaries and called for a mass party modeled after western European social-democratic parties.
