sep 16, 1931 - Hijli Riots

Description:

Prison warders fired indiscriminately at detainees who had been brought to the newly opened detention camp at Hijli, in the district of Midnapore. Two detainees were killed and 20 injured. In the investigation led by R Douglas, District Magistrate of Midnapore, they foudn that the detainees had been seen celebrating the assassination of Garlick and Ashanullah.
