July 1, 1867 became known as Dominion day. Many people gathered to hear Queen Victoria's proclamation. In it she said that the Province of Canada New Brunswick,and Nova Scotia was officially united in the Dominion Act of Canada. Sir John. A. Macdonald was appointed as the prime minister of Canada and was elected the position later too. Queen Victoria also knighted him the role in forming the new dominion
