jul 19, 1945 - Potsdam Conference
Description:
Roosevelt was no longer alive leading Harry Truman to be his replacement. He was inexperienced in world affairs and was suddenly thrown into complicated negotiations, especially those involving Stalin. Stalin continuously proved that he was unwilling to honor self-determination for nations in Eastern Europe, therefore from the American standpoint made his tactics untrustworthy. Although the Potsdam conference continued to pave the way for the division of Germany, both Yalta and Potsdam demonstrated that in private negotiations the U.S. and the Soviet Union had very different objectives.
