The Cheka was a secret police formed by Vladimir Lenin after the successful Revolution of 1917. Its goal was to stop any revolutions that may threaten Lenin's leadership. The Cheka were ruthless and didn't answer to any court. In 1918 the Cheka had over 100,000 members.
