The Soviet Union, Albania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and surrounding countries signed the Warsaw Treaty which was similar to the NATO treaty. It was a collective defense treaty to provide security to each country.This event is important in the fact that it created a unified military power and strengthened the Soviet Union.
