Description:
Council called by emperor Theodosius, which added language regarding the nature of the Holy Spirit to the previous creed that had been established in Nicaea. It was decided that the Holy Spirit proceeded from the Father and was to be glorified. This creed is what we know of today as the official Nicene Creed. Another of the results of this council was the defeat of Arianism within the empire.
