Description:
A) Provides that freed slaves are citizens: “‘All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the Senate wherein they reside.’”
B) Prohibits the states from abridging the “‘privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States” or depriving ‘“any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.’”
C) Protects equality under the law, declaring that no state shall “deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.’”
