jan 1, 1946 - American Containment Policy

Description:

The American Containment Policy was probably the most important foreign policy during the Cold War era. Coined by American Diplomat to the U.S.S.R, George F. Kennan, the Containment Strategy held that the Soviet system was going to collapse anyways. With this in mind, Kennan's idea was to oppose all sorts of Soviet Expansion in the rest of the world. Eventually, the Soviet Union would collapse. In reality, this plan almost worked. Every communist nation in Europe fell, leaving only Asian and American communists and socialists. This contributed to the Cold War because the policy outlined every form of American participation in the world stage for the next fifty years. It would justify the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, and many other conflicts for the next half-century.
