China was defeated by the British Empire and France. As a result, new treaties were were negotiated and where all major foreign influences in China would gain even more rights. China opened up a river and allowed trade inland, the spread of Christianity was legalised, 10 new ports were opened and coolie and opium trade was legalised.Added to timeline:
