jan 1, 1990 - Last Survival Biscuits Thrown Away

Description:

Carleton students Steve Taylor (sophomore/Chicago), Neal Baker
(junior English major/Longmont, Colo.) and Paul Vessel (freshman/Dakota, Minn.) discard the last canisters of Department of Defense/Civil Defense survival ration biscuits, stored at the College since 1962. The graham cracker-like biscuits were beginning to decay. They were placed in Carleton's tunnels as part of the national government's nuclear fallout shelter program.
