Although Neumann was a highly notable physicist known for his involvement with the Manhattan project, he also played a very important role in the history of Computer Science. His development of Von Neumann architecture (the idea that every modern computer has the same 5 basic components: memory, control unit, arithmetic logic unit, input and output) was very influential in the design and evolution of the modern computer. Without a doubt, he was a hugely important figure as he contributed to nearly everything with any relation to Mathematics.
