Harriet Tubman:
Harriet Tubman is a significant part of the abolitionist movement/era because she risked her life returning to the South 13 times in order to free slaves. She helped many slaves by freeing them and leading them to safe places outside of the country where the law enforcing the capturing of slaves. She fought hard to abolish slavery and for women's rights.

Fredrick Douglass:
Fredrick was born as a slave in Maryland and managed to teach himself to read. He later escaped to Massachusetts and published an anti-slavery news paper called The North Star.

Harriet Beecher Stowe:
Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote/published Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1852. This book brought national attention to the evils of slavery.
