The Battle of Stamford Bridge was a significant time in the Viking era because this is the war the Vikings ended. The war happened on the 25th of September 1066 when the Vikings went to war with the English, at the time the ruler of the English was King Harold Godwinson and he beat King Harald Hardrada. The battle started because King Harald Hardrada wanted the throne of England as well as the Vikings, but he didn’t get what he wanted because instead of him becoming king, Harold Godwinson became king.
